UTI probs

I've been using d-mannose for about a year and a half now. I did have a UTI or two during that time, but only on occasion when I was a little slow taking the stuff, and even then I was able to get rid of it by downing a lot of the indigestible sugar.

Unfortunately it seems to have stopped working. I currently have my second UTI in under a month :( I tried to get the first one to go away by taking lots of d-mannose, but all it did was keep the pain down, so after five days when I started peeing blood I decided it was time for antibiotics. This time I only tried with d-mannose for three days before resorting to biotic killers.

I spoke with the doc about chronic UTIs during a recent physical. She said that for some people they just prescribe a daily antibiotic. I really don't like taking antibiotics, let alone taking them every day, but it seems better to be doing that than having to take stronger ones every few weeks, wtf?!!

While sexually active back before discovering d-mannose I used to get them every few months. I do all the stuff they say to do, I think its just something genetic, I recall hearing a short urethra can do the trick.

Since I know it happens with antibiotics, my guess as to what happened is that I now have d-mannose resistant bacteria. suggested that it might be related to hormone wackiness from getting off the pill (which I'd been on for about a decade with only a month or two off prior to this February!). However, I really don't know why d-mannose has stopped working, which is frustrating. I've been trying to use d-mannose preventitively, but as RS suggested, I think I may just cut it completely in hopes that my resistance goes away and I can use it again in the future... maybe in a year or two...???
