incomplete

Patri noted that my busyness report was incomplete, so I will add that I also have a weekly ceramics class that I go to, a game day that I run once a week, hiking twice a week, and rock climbing/rowing twice a week, plus its actually thirteen students if you count my friend to whom I'm going lessons as a birthday present ;) I also do a fair bit of maintenance for teaching, such as placing students, buying books and, at least supposedly, practicing myself to keep my playing up to snuff ;)

The driving is what tends to get me: I have five students that I drive to, probably an average of 10-15 minutes each way/student, plus driving to two different colleges (about 20 each way/college plus parking hell at SJSU), also about a 20 minute commute to ceramics, and 10-15 each way for hiking and climbing.

Although probably the most difficult part for me is making sure that I am on time and heading in the right direction to all of the many different places I'm going. I generally do a pretty good job of this, but spend way more time than ideal reminding myself of what needs to be done next and waiting between various events. Not sure if its ADD related or not, but I have a pretty hard time budgeting my time for complex tasks, so I don't tend to maximize my frequent but short amounts of time between events very well. (or when I do I tend to lose track of the time and end up late ;) I much prefer it when students come to my house, because then I can focus more on what I'm doing and just wait for the doorbell to ring rather than having to watch the clock.

I've actually gotten to the point where I think I may start turning away new students! But when I am ready to accept new students again in the future I think I will take only those who are willing to come to my house ;) My original plan for the year was to shoot for 15, but that was not taking into account taking classes or that Patri would agree to having kids so soon, so I think I'm at a pretty good amount now ;)
